Typical Day

A Day at Bromsgrove International School Cambodia

Morning
Our Breakfast Club welcomes children from 7:45 am, providing a calm and enjoyable start to the day. For families needing an earlier drop-off, Early Care is available from 7:30 am.

Early Years (Foundation Stage) begin their day at 8:30 am while Years 1-6 (Key stage 1 and 2) start at 8:00 am with homeroom registration.

Homeroom teachers serve as the primary point of care and guidance for children, ensuring their well-being, fostering a positive learning environment, and delivering core lessons. They take daily attendance, build strong relationships, and support each child’s academic, social, and emotional growth.

The day officially starts with circle time activities/ class-based learning activities, designed to support social and emotional development. These sessions include group discussions, storytelling, mindfulness exercises, and songs, helping children build communication skills, confidence, and a sense of community.

On Wednesdays, the entire school participates in Wake Up-Shake Up on the playground, which combines mindfulness, movement, and a fun, energising start to the day. On the other mornings, children engage in circle time or class-based learning activities.

Following circle time, pupils move into their core lesson time, exploring a variety of subjects, such as Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Music, Swimming, or Sport. At 10:30 am, children enjoy a healthy snack and outdoor play before continuing with lessons.

Mid-Morning to Lunch
Children head to our state-of-the-art Dining Hall, where a professional catering team prepares and serves a three-course lunch. Meals are freshly made, nutritious, and cater to diverse tastes and dietary needs.

After lunch, children have a nap or rest period to recharge. Following this, they enjoy a refreshing shower to prepare for afternoon classes, ensuring they feel energised and ready to learn.

Afternoon
The afternoon begins with curriculum activities, focusing on creative and academic subjects, followed by a fruit snack and a calming story time session. The core school day ends at 3:30 pm, when Nursery pupils are collected. Reception and Year 1 pupils finish at 3:45 pm, and Years 2 to 6 at 4:00 pm.

For children staying beyond the core day, after-school clubs and activities run from 3:45 pm, offering opportunities to develop skills and explore interests. Alternatively, pupils may join our after-school care programme, which runs until 5:15 pm.

Home Learning
At the end of the day, pupils may bring home a reading book to share with their family, alongside high-frequency words and weekly spellings to practise. These activities are designed to reinforce their learning and foster a love of reading at home.

Collection

It is essential that children are collected by an authorised adult. If someone other than the designated parent or guardian is to collect a child, the School Office must be notified in advance.

Once a child is collected, their safety becomes their parent’s responsibility. We kindly ask parents to ensure children avoid disruptive behaviour, such as shouting, roughhousing, running, or climbing, both on the premises and in areas like parking areas or near the road.

School Bus Service

  • Pupils travelling by the school bus service will be supervised until the buses leave at 4:00 pm.
  • All bus users are expected to follow the bus code of conduct and behave responsibly during their journey.

  • Foundation Stage (Early Years) Pre-N, Nursery and Reception
